This solutions guide illustrates using two Shelly Pro 3EM energy meters paired with Shelly Switch Add-on modules and 63 amp contactors. This solution enables users to meter and control two 240v appliances. The enclosure can be installed on the panel, or either inline or at the appliances if located together.
The Shelly Pro 3EM
The Shelly Pro 3EM is a three-phase energy meter and din rail form factor that has been factory calibrated for Class B accuracy.
The Pro 3EM is a passive measurement device.
A 500-watt minimum load is required per channel for accurate measurement.
If the total load for the device is under 30va, the meter will not accumulate updated data until the load is increased.
The Shelly Pro 3EM is available in 120-amp or 400-amp CT configurations.
The Shelly Pro 3EM Switch Add-On
The Shelly Pro 3EM Switch Add-on module allows the 3EM to trigger contactor coils rated up to 2 amps.
Notes
10 AWG gauge wire is used for the contactors. The terminal blocks selected support up to 6 AWG. A larger wire gauge requires larger terminal blocks and enclosure.
DSS10N-03P is preferred in this setup to jumper incoming DK10N-BK terminals.
Critical
The Shelly Pro 3EM is powered via a line connection to terminal C and should be used for single phase. Use A and C with split single phase or two phase. Use A, B, and C for three phases.
The Shelly Pro 3EM is powered via a line connection to terminal C and should be used for single phase. Use A and C with split single phase or two phase. Use A, B, and C for three phases.
You must leave enough slack in the wires feeding the contactors to allow CTs to fit and position them prior to anchoring wires to the enclosure.
