Shelly Mini 1PM Gen3 Wiring An Outlet.jpg

Overview

Mini 1PM is designed for shallow wall boxes where larger relays and smart switches don’t fit. Wiring is simple, as the relay only requires neutral, line, and load.

If you’re not experienced with electrical wiring, you should work with a licensed electrician to complete this solution.

Important:

Mini 1PM Gen3 requires neutral to function
Maximum load is 8 amps.

Instructions

  1. Turn off the breaker controlling this outlet.

  2. Use a voltage detector to make sure the circuit is not energized.

  3. Connect a neutral wire from the load center (breaker panel) to Mini 1PM’s N terminal.

  4. Connect a neutral wire from the load center (breaker panel) to the outlet’s silver screw.

  5. Connect line (hot) from the load center (breaker panel) to Mini 1PM’s L terminal.

  6. Connect load (the wire going to your outlet’s brass screw) to Mini 1PM’s O terminal.

Top Use Cases for Mini 1PM Gen3

Shelly Mini 1PM Gen3 uses Shelly’s smallest form factor enclosure. This makes the product ideal for:

  • Shallow gang box installation

  • Power measurement

  • Switches and outlets

Note: Shelly Mini 1PM Gen3 is limited to 8 amps. It is critical to verify the total load for circuits controlled by this product will not exceed the product maximum prior to installation. To determine total load of an outlet’s circuit, use a multimeter with clamp at the breaker panel, measuring the load side of the circuit’s breaker.

Best product for outlets

Shelly Plus 1PM is the best choice for use with outlets:

  • 15 amp maximum capacity UL version, 16 amp maximum capacity standard version

  • Power measurement

  • Over wattage protection

  • Over current protection

  • Over voltage protection

  • Under voltage protection
