Shelly Plus 2PM offers cover mode for direct control of bidirectional motors, ideal for automating gates, blinds, and shutters, especially beneficial for older gate motors. It manages motor opening and closing by controlling direction and power, ensuring precise operation. By connecting to motor control wires, it replaces manual switches, enabling integration into smart home setups for remote control and scheduling. The device includes power monitoring and safety features to prevent motor damage, making it a versatile addition for modernizing motor-driven installations.

  • Shelly Plus 2PM

The Shelly IP6610755 might not be essential for many scenarios. It is recommended to assess the space within current motorized gate controllers to decide if its use is required.

Use a 2-wire reed switch rugged enough to withstand the elements to which it is exposed.

After installation a calibration process will need to run

Failure to complete cover mode calibration may result in damage to the motor.

Shelly Plus 2Pm can be powered by either 24vDC or 120vAC.

Shelly Smart Control App Configuration

Adding the device to Shelly Smart Control.

 

 

  1. Open the Shelly Smart Control app.

  2. Tap the blue + icon at the bottom right.

  3. Tap + Add a New Device.

  1. Tap Add Via WiFi (AP Scan).

  1. Tap Next.

  2. Tap the relay.

  3. Tap Next.

  4. Tap + Add Device. The inclusion process lasts for several moments.

  1. Type a name for the device.

  2. Select an image to represent the device in the Smart Control app.

  3. Select the Room to add the device to. Tap Save.

  4. Tap Next. The device is associated with your Smart Control account.

The relay is now included in the Shelly app and registered to a Cloud Account. It can be controlled from any location where internet is available.

Updating the Firmware of the Device.

 

 

 

 

  1. Tap the device to update.

  2. Tap the Settings button.

  3. Tap the Firmware version dropdown.

  4. The option to enable auto-update is presented, as is the current and available firmware version. Tap Update, then tap Update again.

The update process may take several moments and require resetting the device. It is not recommended to perform a firmware update if the device is not physically reachable.

Enabling Cover Mode

 

  1. In the Shelly Smart Control app, tap the Plus 2PM

  2. Tap the Gear Icon

  3. Tap Device Information

  4. Tap the blue IP Address next to Device IP

This will launch the devices embeded Web Interface in a web browser.

  1. Expand the Menu in the User Left.

  2. Tap Settings

  3. Tap Device Profile

Device Profile is the last option in the list of menu items.

  1. Change the option to Cover and hit Save.

  2. Confirm your selection when prompted.

  3. All the device to reboot

Calibrating Cover Mode

 

  1. In the Shelly Smart Control app, tap the Plus 2PM

  2. Tap the Gear Icon

  3. Tap Calibration

  4. Tap Start Calibration

Once completed the gate can be controlled.
